Lawn care can be a time-consuming and exhausting task. Fortunately, the arrival of robotic mowers has revolutionized lawn care. Among these intelligent machines, top-of-the-range models stand out for their increasingly advanced performance and innovative features. But does choosing a top-of-the-range robotic lawnmower offer many advantages? Let’s take a look at the Luba AWD 3000, a model selling for 2,600 euros, capable of maintaining over 3,000m2 of garden.

Desing the Luba AWD 3000

Luba’s trademark is its Formula 1-inspired design. It’s an aesthetic choice that sets it apart from more conventional robotic mowers, as well as from EcoFlow’s very futuristic EcoFlow Blade model. Like a car, this robotic mower consists of a metal chassis on which a plastic body rests. This plastic body is fitted with a number of buttons, ideally placed to ensure that you don’t get your toes cut off during an operation. More specifically, there’s a STOP button to stop the robot instantly, a mower button, a return-to-base button, a start button and an on/off button.

On the front of the robot, 4 sensors are positioned for easy identification. Also on the front, there’s a bumper like on robot vacuum cleaners. In addition, the front wheels are fitted with shock absorbers to help control mowing in potholes. caption id=”attachment_106105″ align=”aligncenter” width=”1024″]avis luba awd 3000 Sensors and wheels on the Luba AWD 3000[/caption] The sides of the robot feature two handles for easy transport without the risk of cuts. In addition, two lights are positioned for greater safety, but also for a more precise view of its passage during the night, as it doesn’t generate enough noise to disturb during sleep. It’s on the back of the beast that we find the charging sensors operating, again, on the same principle as robot vacuum cleaners. There’s also a USB-C and a USB-A port, but I couldn’t find any use for them. As for the wheels, they’re a bit unique, especially on the front. In fact, they can turn through 90°. As for the rear, they’re fairly classic, and have ideal grip on all surfaces. caption id=”attachment_106122″ align=”aligncenter” width=”1024″]test luba awd 3000 The Luba AWD 3000 from above[/caption] Underneath the robot mower are 8 small, slightly floating blades, for cutting thanks to inertia. This model isn’t delivered on its own; it comes with a recharging station, as well as a receiver to place in front of it. The station recharges it in less than 150 minutes. As an option, a charging base canopy is available to protect it from the rain, although the robot is IPX6 certified. gallery link=”none” columns=”2″ size=”large” ids=”106107,106112,106114,106111″]

Luba AWD 3000 sensors and intelligent management

Thanks to its advanced satellite navigation system (GNSS), RTK technology and IMU sensors, the LUBA AWD 3000 offers centimetric precision when mapping and navigating your garden. The RTK signal has a range of 120 meters, making it easy to cover large gardens, even in difficult areas. Even with poor satellite reception, the LUBA AWD 3000 maintains perfect course stability thanks to the integration of inertial navigation, odometry and patented algorithms. A 220-degree field of vision is covered by four ultrasonic radar sensors, which are able to automatically detect obstacles up to 5 cm away and avoid a collision. Thanks to the Mammotion application and its efficient multi-zone management, you can easily configure mowing tasks for several work zones and create routes between them. The integrated planned route algorithm enhances mowing efficiency by enabling the LUBA AWD 3000 to mow in different directions and adopt specific mowing angles. It can, moreover, work in up to 6 zones, again optimizing mowing for more difficult terrain.Le Luba AWD 3000 en actionThe LUBA AWD 3000 Mammotion mower is equipped with an anti-theft system, as are all the brand’s other mowers. When an unusual movement is detected, the application triggers an alarm. However, this alarm does not yet appear as a pop-up, but is only activated when you manually open the application. We hope to upgrade the app in the future so that it also sends a notification in the event of a problem. If the LUBA is stolen, its original user will be informed of its location as soon as it is reconnected to the network. In this way, the device cannot be used by others without authorization. It is worth noting the possibility of creating forbidden zones to secure, for example, environments close to children’s play areas or the dog kennel. However, if an object is in its path and it doesn’t detect it, its shock sensor will stop the blades automatically, and human action will be required to restart.

Mowing performance

In terms of performance, this robot mower is excellent. Its overall operation is perfectly controlled, guaranteeing a smooth and efficient user experience. Grass cutting is even, precise and powerful enough to cut overgrown grass. I was personally able to try it out on grounds that hadn’t been mown for several weeks, and where plants such as dandelion and other thick grasses had long since proliferated. The robot had no trouble handling these difficult conditions. It is important to note that for initial roughing, it is recommended to use the “high grass” setting. This mode is capable of handling particularly tall, dense grass. On the other hand, for more regular and precise mowing, you’ll need to use the “precision cut” mode. Also, thanks to its powerful motors, this mowing robot is capable of handling slopes of up to a maximum of 33°. This capability gives it added versatility, as it can easily adapt to sloping or uneven terrain, without compromising its cutting performance. Whether your garden has sloping areas or steep inclines, this robot mower will navigate safely and efficiently, ensuring an even, precise cut across your entire lawn. It will be possible to manage the cutting height from 30 to 70 mm. This is even essential for adapting the robot mower to the terrain, if it is littered with stones, to avoid premature damage to the blades. It should be pointed out that the cut is perfect, because as it has no grass collection function, the cut grass must not be visible. To achieve this, it mulches the cuttings into 1 to 4 mm chunks, so that they can be hidden between the remaining grass. Overall, this robotic mower offers cutting power and overall control of its operation. It is capable of coping with grounds that have not been mowed for several weeks, even when thick plants have proliferated. Thanks to its various setting modes, it can be used for initial roughing or for more regular, precise mowing.

Luba AWD 3000 autonomy

As far as autonomy is concerned, the manufacturer has announced that the robot mower should be able to run for 3 hours before returning to charge once it reaches 15% battery. However, during my tests, I found that the actual autonomy was much greater than that announced by the brand.autonomie du luba awd 3000In fact, I managed to use the robot for over 3 hours and 40 minutes in “high grass” mode, which is the most power-hungry mode. Consequently, it’s quite possible to get over 4 hours’ autonomy by using a less intensive mode that requires less power.

Robot mower configuration

Configuration is fairly straightforward. However, it’s only once all the equipment has been installed and connected that you’ll need to configure it. For installation, you’ll need to be careful not to install it under a roof, trees or anything else that might interfere with the transmission. Once this is done, download the “Mammotion” application

Add a device and follow the instructions. Now, the connection will be made via Bluetooth for automatic detection and then you’ll need to add it to the Wi-Fi network
And now your device is ready to use. (Don’t forget to update your device before you start using it).

Mammotion software

Once the configuration is complete, you’ll need to create zones. Nothing too complicated. Simply click on “create zone”, then remote-control the robot to the edge of the zone you want, and that’s it. Once you’ve created the zones, you won’t need to do it again. To start maintenance, you’ll need to select specific zones, or simply click on “mow” if you want the robot to mow all the zones. However, before starting, you can change the work parameters by selecting the modes (high grass, standard, precision). You can also change the start time or program a mowing schedule. By the way, the application estimates the time it will take to mow the entire area, but don’t be fooled: it’s not very precise and doesn’t take into account obstacles to be avoided along the way. Gallery columns=”2″ link=”none” size=”large” ids=”106170,106160″] Next, set the cutting height and start mowing your garden.

If your terrain is straightforward, there should be no problem. However, it will be possible to access all the tasks carried out, as well as track the notifications sent to you by the device. gallery columns=”2″ link=”none” size=”large” ids=”106165,106161″] Other parameters can be accessed directly from the home page, such as the speed of the robot mower when moved via the smartphone.

Luba AWD 3000 review

The Luba AWD 3000 is an ideal robot mower for garden maintenance. It’s easy to use and requires no special skills. Its mowing performance is excellent and its functionalities are numerous. The application is therefore essential for its use, but does not offer unnecessary options or settings that are too difficult to understand. At a price of 2,599 euros, it’s still an option worth considering, but overall it’s an excellent high-end model that will overshadow the products found in physical stores in France. https://youtu.be/aVjZbuSx8bc?si=XRWj0rFeTutAvK71
