Apple today announced its new iPhones:
- iPhone 16
- iPhone 16 Plus
- iPhone 16 Pro
- iPhone 16 Pro Max
The eagerly-awaited smartphones, which have been the subject of much speculation and rumor, are now official, and here are their specifications. Let’s focus here on the iPhone 16 and 16 Plus.
The A18 chip: between performance and intelligence
At the heart of the iPhone 16 is the A18 chip, a jewel of technology that represents a significant evolution from the A16 Bionic chip found in the iPhone 15. This new chip offers a 30% increase in performance, making the iPhone 16 faster and more responsive for all tasks, from everyday navigation and 3D gaming to onboard artificial intelligence.
One of the highlights of this A18 chip is its full compatibility with Apple Intelligence, Apple’s AI system. This means that the iPhone 16 is capable of processing machine-learning tasks in real time, improving the efficiency of numerous functions such as voice recognition, photography and energy management. This model promises seamless integration between hardware and artificial intelligence for a more intuitive user experience.
Action buttons for greater control
In addition to enhanced performance, the iPhone 16 introduces new means of interaction. Following their appearance on Pro models, the Action Button now makes its debut on the standard model. This button lets you customize quick actions: with a single click, you can launch the camera, activate the flashlight, or open a favorite application. This new feature aims to offer greater flexibility and speed for everyday tasks.
Another notable addition is a second touch button on the right-hand side of the phone. This allows you to perform specific actions when taking a photo, such as focusing or zooming in simply by “stroking” the side of the iPhone. This touch-sensitive interface offers an elegant and intuitive way to control your shots without having to touch the screen.
An ultra-resistant ceramic screen
The iPhone 16 is also distinguished by its new ceramic glass, which covers the screen. Apple claims that this material offers twice the resistance of other competing smartphones. Whether you accidentally drop your phone or use it in harsh conditions, this screen is designed to resist bumps and scratches.
Another interesting innovation: brightness management. The iPhone 16 screen can reach an impressive brightness of 2,000 nits in daylight, ensuring optimum visibility even in bright light. Conversely, in low-light conditions or at night, brightness can be reduced to 1 nit, guaranteeing visual comfort without dazzling the user.
5 new colors on the program
Apple hasn’t forgotten design either, and this year offers five new colors for the iPhone 16, enabling everyone to find a model to suit their tastes. In addition to its functional enhancements, this model retains its minimalist, refined aesthetic, accentuated by these new hues.
In terms of size, the standard iPhone 16 features a 6.1-inch screen, while the iPhone 16 Plus model boasts a larger 6.7-inch screen, offering two options to suit users’ screen size preferences.
