Apple Support has recently enhanced its YouTube channel with a video offering five practical tips for AirPods users. These tips are designed to improve your experience with the brand’s most popular wireless earphones.
1. Audio sharing
If you’re wearing your AirPods, you can share the audio you’re listening to with another AirPods user. In the Control Center, press the button on your AirPods, then “Share audio”. If the person you want to share the audio with is already wearing their AirPods, all they have to do is bring their iPhone close to yours and press “join”.
If her AirPods are still in their case, ask her to bring the case closer to your iPhone. When an image of his AirPods appears on your screen, he should open the case cover and press “Share Audio” on your screen, then hold down the setup button on the back of the case for a few seconds to temporarily connect his AirPods to your phone.
2. Renaming your AirPods
You can rename your AirPods to personalize them. While wearing them, go to Settings, tap on your AirPods and on the current name. Type in the new name you want, then press “Done”.
3. Live listening
This feature turns your AirPods into quasi-hearing aids, by transmitting what your iPhone microphone picks up directly into your AirPods. Activate this option by going to Settings > Control Center, add the Hearing option by pressing the “add” button next to the ear icon, then in Control Center, press the hearing icon and activate “Live Listening”.
4. Ambient sounds
To minimize distractions, you can play ambient sounds through your AirPods. In the Control Center audition controls, press “Ambient sounds”, then the icon to activate the feature. Choose a sound and adjust the volume with the slider. Options include rain, ocean, dark noise, light noise and balanced noise.
5. Notification announcement by Siri
Siri can announce notifications through your AirPods when you’re wearing them. Go to Settings > Notifications, tap Announce Notifications, then activate the option. When your iPhone screen is locked and turned off, Siri will announce notifications from supported apps, as well as messages and reminders.
These tips, straight from Apple support, are designed to help you get the most out of your AirPods, enriching your listening experience and further integrating your headphones into your digital daily life.
